We used to call them McDonald's birds, as they frequented the parking lots looking for leftover french fries.

We call them Spuggies , Dad was Scottish & Mum's family mainly Co Durham miners, Sparra was a type of endearment from great uncles too. I'm wondering now what the Vikings named them, but I fear the rabbit holes of goggling atm

To fill you in, I've had a bird in the not so large but tall space here (675sq about). It has happened before. The bird flew in in about 3:00 PM. Left about 5:30ish, thank god. As other birds sang outside, this tiny bird heard nothing.

I was surprised when I was out in NW China in 2009 to find Tree Sparrows in all the niches and places where we would expect House Sparrows (and in huge numbers).
