A few people I know pronounce it nututch, rather than nut-hatch, which is cause for reflecting on the foundation of those friendships

My favourite stanza from "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird" by Wallace Stevens:

I do not know which to prefer

The beauty of inflections or of innuendos

The blackbird whistling

Or just after.

(I don't remember the punctuation, only the words)

The Dawn Chorus map is great.

Our local Blackbirds (in more or less central Edinburgh) have started singing at dawn and dusk, always a wonderful sign of Spring.

We always call our resident nuthatch the Bandit Bird, as it looks like it’s wearing a Lone Ranger type mask.
