This Week | Blackbird | Nuthatch | Woodpeckers | Dawn Chorus Map
A few people I know pronounce it nututch, rather than nut-hatch, which is cause for reflecting on the foundation of those friendships
My birds of Poole Harbour trip was incredible, spring and autumn being amazing times to go. Wrap up warm and dry and have the best time.
Gorgeous birdiness. Such beautiful, funny writing - brings moments of joy every week.
My favourite stanza from "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird" by Wallace Stevens:
I do not know which to prefer
The beauty of inflections or of innuendos
The blackbird whistling
Or just after.
(I don't remember the punctuation, only the words)
The Dawn Chorus map is great.
Our local Blackbirds (in more or less central Edinburgh) have started singing at dawn and dusk, always a wonderful sign of Spring.
OOh! I loved the Dawn Chorus sound map! Thanks!!
I do love the 100 birds - my wife and I are up to 33 as a joint effort - thanks so much for the idea.
We always call our resident nuthatch the Bandit Bird, as it looks like it’s wearing a Lone Ranger type mask.
