A robin, singing. Always bloody singing. Ok, we get it. Give it a rest. At 4 am, in competition with another one across the road. SHUT UP! (I love them, usually)

We have a gang of siskins in our Manchester garden. Just arrived in the last couple of days. Chirring and twittering. Swarming the feeders. Love them.

The work on biofluorescence of the birds of paradise was done, if I read the article correctly, on skins. If long-dead feathers give off light, it makes me wonder how brilliantly a living bird glows.
