Fabulous, especially the lighthouses. Thank you

Have a major fascination for lighthouses - even read a couple of books on the topic a couple of years ago - one was about women lighthouse keepers.

Also, that first dance video reminded me of one of my favourites - the Shut Up and Dance With Me (Walk the Moon) compilation - I even recognised some of the same clips in both!

You had me excited with that island for sale. PERFECT. Instant 0-1,000 with plans of how I’d live. Then noticed the date. And clicked through to sold 😔. But it was an enjoyable moment, thank you. (Never fails to amaze me how fast the brain can work when it’s joyous!)

Thanks for your posts. They're really more informative than other posts i read every day. What you said about "Learning Italian" has happened to me twice, once when i was talking to an Austrian whose mother tongue was German, and once to a French person.

I started learning German a few years ago and an Austrian was interested in chatting with me more deeply. One day i decided to show him how much German i'd learned in Duolingo (He then suggested that i join the Telegram group of his hikers&mountain bikers' friends to practice my German. I neither could understand a word of what they said, nor had the audacity to ask him to help me understand what they said. I finally quit that group).

And about my second experience, i had learned a bit of French (between A1-A2) during my BA period. Then i connected with a French on LinkedIn. One day, i decided to chat with him in French to show him i know French. I couldn't continue much because after two messages and his replies, i saw that i can't continue chatting with my beginner level French. All in all, i believe that if you wanna chat with a native speaker of a language, your proficiency level must be at least near intermediate.

Excellent.

I used Duolingo for about 18 months to learn Scottish Gaelic. I still can't speak the language at all, but using Duolingo helped me to read basic texts and to start understanding what I hear on programmes on BBC Alba (the Scottish Gaelic language BBC TV Channel). I did attend face to face classes at one point, but they were next to useless as there was no real opportunity to practice conversation, it was all just reading out from prepared texts, which seemed a very odd way to do things.

The lighthouse images are gorgeous. There's a lovely episode of Joe Pera Talks With You (available on Channel 4) about lighthouses. And I could watch CHRIStopher walKEN dance all day long! And yes to more planting in cities. More planting everywhere in fact! The KlimaSeniorinnen in Switzerland have been campaigning to hold governments accountable for global heating, and like the people planting trees in the green corridors, it is future generations that will benefit from all their hard work. Hope inspiring stuff.
