I recently struggled to subdue my inner bustard listening to an octet playing Bach with agreement on neither timing nor pitch…🫣

In 2: small passerine that eats invertebrates seems to be a solid starting guess. :)

I didn't realise that particular Charlie Brown cartoon was well known (is it?) I quoted it to bored friends for years before it trickled out of my immediate memory. Thanks for that!

Yesterday, my starter word for Alphaguess was 'mountain'. I have a screenshot which suggests I could step away happily. I probably won't.

I was sooooo excited about Weather Birthday as I know for a fact that it was 80°F and blazing sunshine.... but WB tells me it was rainy all day. Now I'm questioning everything my parents told me about the day I was born.... 🤔🤣

Sweet to see the film about my home city Wellington and the City Nature Challenge in your lineup this week! Wellington is very biodiverse, maybe the reason we haven't won the comp is that there are far fewer of us than in those more populous cities...

That film was part of Loading Docs, I also liked this one: https://www.rnz.co.nz/programmes/loading-docs-2024/story/2018957029/loading-docs-2024-tu-tonu-still-standing

Re. birds, Blindboy did a great podcast interviewing Sean Ronayne, who is recording every Irish bird: https://shows.acast.com/blindboy/episodes/speaking-to-an-expert-about-birdsong

Oh there is a micronation (if you can call it that) in South Africa called Orania - an afrikaner nationalist town where only white afrikaans people are allowed to live. They have their own currency and powergrid separate to South Africa and I’m guessing they soenx their days reminiscing on ‘the good old days of apartheid’ 🫠

I once went on a date with someone who didn't so much as crack a smile upon hearing the noise a great bustard makes.

There was, of course, no second date. I mean, honestly. 🙄

Really enjoyed this diverse collection and read the descriptions of the cricketers out to my other half. His response “they made proper people then, anyone can jump forwards onto the mantelpiece”. Thanks

Apparently he started facing the mantelpiece and executed the turn in midair

I heard often about snow and ice drama at my birth, so “7°C drizzle” seems a tad optimistic 😂. Others may fair better! Fun though. Thanks.
