The Lady Vanishes is another classic train film, but my first thought was North West Frontier. In my childhood the parental response to our pleas for when something was going to happen or be ready was usually 'in a very soon moment', which of course meant 'I have no idea but probably not for ages'. Surely that wasn't only my family? (However I do not recommend saying it in 2024. You get blank looks).
Brief Encounter needs to be in any list of films that feature trains!
Of course! He writes nicely about it https://railwaymoviedatabase.com/brief-encounter-1945/
oh when birds collide 😫😭
Keeping mum? With the late great Maggie Smith
As usual, a great potpourri. And I'm loving What Came First ,obviously because I'm old enough to be good at it.
I’m also old enough to be good at it, but am terrible at it.

Murder on the Orient Express is the obvious one!
Yes, that occurred to me, too. But of course it’s not there because the site only deals with British railways.
Thing 1a 👌 can’t beat a good and weird decision tree
Oh boy, maps...
My version of Datchet is
“Yes. I remember Adlestrop-“.
Read at school in the 1970s and firmly embedded in my brain for life.
