Berlin: Nostalgia??!! Dear god I had a panic attack before they got anywhere near sign 5 / saluting / watching for traffic on left which should give you precedence but may not.
I saw an exhibition of those inside-instrument prints printed large at a pub around the coast- Parrotdog. I thought they were beautiful and spent a fair bit of time studying them. I didn't see that flute one, though, and it reminds me of a story my friend Andrew told me concerning my Dad, who used to be a Baroque flute and recorder maker. Apparently my Dad had invented a tool to assess the straightness of the sides of the interior hole of the instrument: it was a light that shone down the hole. It didn't have a name so Andrew christened it 'The Whinray one-way wind-way sun-ray'.
The video about how to get to Berlin is enlightening! I visited East Germany a couple of times. It was much easier to get in at Checkpoint Charlie, though I did have to have my luggage searched. Once in East Germany, it was relatively easy to travel round, but we did have East German escorts.
(why must you demand to see a Soviet solider and not an East German one? Why must they not stamp your passport? Why must you salute? Why must they not see the travel pack?)
Ol' Atonal Music - genius! I'm going to read the music post later as it looks like it deserves proper time, thank you
Noice

And then atonal music.
Going back to bed, that’s me done for the day.
Retires.
Well, ‘algia’ does mean ‘pain’, after all.

I am under 45 and I have so many questions about the Soviet checkpoints 😶

I suspect these are questions that would have earned you a lengthy spell in prison.
I suspect you’re right
