Loved this. Birds, their behaviour and adaptation always fascinates me. Think that the UK motorway system is great, yep it has glitches but in generally is pretty simple to follow. Great piece
Loved reading this. I won't lie to you, I thought birds used their nests like beds until today.
The swallows and the swifts have arrived in the place where I live - some of my favourite birds. I would love to find out about the neuroscience of how swifts sleep while flying.
Absolutely useless. We had a pair on a slightly sloping window ledge a couple of years ago. The tried to make the nest with three twigs, which kept on falling off. In the end they went somewhere else.
Best pigeon nest I saw was in Ipswich station where they'd squeezed into the space on top of a fuse/ electrical box. Held in safely by that bird deterrent spiky stuff.
Fascinating, thank you! The Welsh pied wagtails in the Christmas tree remind me delightfully of those 1950’s glass clip-on bird decorations- which I found a lovely photo of, only to realise you can’t post pics in comments ☹️

It's fascinating, isn't it? If I find something on the subject I'll let you know.
Pigeons are hilarious when building nests. It's amazing the species survives, let alone in the numbers it does!

Loved reading this. I too would love to see the communal wrens. That collective noun should definitely be a snuggle.
