Hmm, the video didn't load for me. It even said "Could not load video". I am in Canada in case it is a case of regional permissions. Looking at it in email - it was just an image of a video, not a link.
1. It worked fine in draft, then stopped working when I sent it out. It works fine for me on the Substack website rather than in email, but I gather that’s not the case for everyone. And in the app it doesn’t appear at all. I’ll email Substack to tell them, and will try to make sure all media work ok in future.
2. I’ll drop Simon a line and tell him about the problem. Meanwhile, by the end of publication day there will be signed copies in a number of London shops, including Heywood Hill, so maybe drop them a line and stake your claim in advance? Enquiries@heywoodhill.com. Thanks!
Hi Lev, sure you are already aware but Hive are another good online bookseller (and no, I don’t work for them). They support indie bookshops - you can nominate your favourite who will get a % every time you buy online. Free postage too. Oh and Taking Flight is a mere £13.89 (though is this bad for you? not sure how these things work…)

I discovered after posting that it doesn’t seem to play in the email, but if you click through and view it on the Substack website it should work.
It is on Substack that the message " Could not load video" appears.
I’ll let them know.
Lev, two problems with this post.
1. The video link does not work.
2. The Big Green bookshop software does not allow me to order without registering -- although it says it does. It looped me twice -- very irritating.
That is indeed aggravating!

I managed to order it through bookshop.org. We'll have to get you to sign it for us one of these days!
Congratulations, Lev! I will place a pre-order. You must be so thrilled. Well deserved.
Order placed!
