Meadow pipits also have a special place in my heart because, unfortunately for them, they make excellent foster parents for the cuckoos that, thankfully, still return to my local moors each year.
Ohhh, this might have solved the mystery of the baby birds I nearly trod on last month. I was thinking robin because of their feathers, stone chat because of the location or skylark because of their big pink feet. But I’ve just checked my photo of one of them and there does seem to be a huge hind claw tucked away underneath. And we do get a lot meadow pipits on our cliffs.
Dang it, missed the t-shirts
Well I can’t see a long hind claw.
Enlarges photo…
OH MY GOD!! Bloody HUGE!!! 😳

I love Meadow Pipits. I didn't realise Meadow was such a rare word to be included in bird names
Thank you for your perceptible contribution to the happiness of the day 😂
