Thing 1 – Pockets
The people at Pudding, who brought you last week’s Divaness, have produced a range of excellent visual essays on a variety of subjects. Here’s one that will no doubt chime loudly with at least half the population.
It’s called ’Women's Pockets are Inferior’.
No further comment required at this stage, I don’t think.
Thing 2 – Ames
A bit of old school telly presentation here, and very lovely it is too. Curiosity Show was an Australian science show for kids which ran through the 1980s and 1990s. In this clip, presenter Deane Hutton demonstrates the Ames Window illusion, which never fails to make my brain go ‘huh?’ – as is of course the intention. But not content with demonstrating it, he also shows you how to make it yourself. Might just do that, and all.
Thing 3 – Muppets
I’m feeling in the mood for silliness this week, so here’s an exhaustive assessment of Every Best Picture Winner Ranked by How Good a Muppets Version Would Be. See if you can guess the top five before you read.
Thing 4 – Birdsong
This isn’t silly. It’s lovely. An old payphone repurposed to play recordings of birdsong to the user.
More of this kind of thing.
Thing 5 – Tap
Let’s have three minutes of Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell tap dancing, shall we?
Thing 6 – Squeezy
If you like word games but the charms of Wordle are beginning to pall, Squeezy might be a fun substitute/addition.
Love it as per usual
