A short Wednesday post – with apologies – of moderate-to-severe self-promotion. Its primary purpose is to trumpet my talk at The Royal Institution next Tuesday, 5th September.
It’s safe to say that ‘my talk at The Royal Institution’ are not words I ever thought I’d type. All book talks and events are created equal, of course, but this one has a special lustre. It’s not just that The Royal Institution is a bastion of scientific education with a long and noble history; nor is it all about the famous Christmas lectures which were such a part of my childhood (and, I’m sure, the childhoods of many others). It’s just that, while I have of course brought this upon myself by writing a ‘popular science’ book, there’s still a part of me that’s thinking similar thoughts to this elephant.
It all feels terrifyingly grown-up.
All of which is a long-winded way of saying I’d love to see you there, if geographically convenient.
While I’m at it, here are some other book-related events in the next few weeks.
22nd September, NWT Cley Marshes
26th September, Wigtown Book Festival
21st October, Ilkley Literature Festival
I’ll also be conducting some concerts, which I’ll bore you about on a separate occasion.
Congratulations...you'll slay them!
Goodo. I hope that it goes well. I'm looking forward to seeing you at Cley next month.
